keep her warm from the oncoming storm

we went to get thai food last night and there was a giant fish tank built into the wall. halo got his usual rice and peanut sauce but then spent FOREVER picking every tiny little peanut out of the sauce before he would eat it. he loves every peanut related product but hates actual peanuts. weirdo. then we played air trombone and made a family out of seashells. the oldest one lived to be one million years old, just in case you thought you were old. today it's snowing. so not cool, snow.

halo made

look who learned to sew! i was mending some sweaters over the weekend and doing some long overdue button sewing when halo said he wanted to sew the buttons on. I let him practice on this dish towel and the buttons became the fruit of the trees. there were apples, blueberries, and one tiny grape. he was really into it and picked up on it really fast, i was impressed! he spent over an hour sewing with me until he pricked his thumb at which point he declared that needles are dangerous and he no longer felt like sewing. my favorite is the little red button (apple) that fell off the tree on the bottom.

my how much we've grown

that bricking building, the top left window, we used to live there. halo was almost 6 months old. just him and i, as it's been since then. it must have been no larger than 400 square feet, a tiny studio. the cabinets in the kitchen would fly open all on their own. i swear i felt a ghost lay down next to me one night and wrap it's arms around me. the window looked out on the space needle and was really beautiful as far as views are concerned. halo took his first steps there. it wasn't much but it was home for a year and a half, and we were free.

the look of love

golly it's been a strange week. but my heart is bursting with love for this little man.

there quite possibly might be nothing cuter than kindergarten kids making and giving each other valentine's, just so you know.

see that tooth up there on the left, how it's sticking out a bit? it's loose. we are gonna have a real ruthless toothless on our hands soon. watch out!
